Last year I started slowly selling my photography at a couple art shows and this year we are continuing to do smaller shows. The thing that surprises me is what people are attracted to most. As my wife and I considered what pictures to show this year, we decided to include many with flowers since people love to look at flowers in the Spring. At our show this past Saturday, people showed more interest in my waterfall picture and lake shore picture than any flowers. People did look at the flowers but really never made any comments about them. I guess figuring out what the public will like takes some time and several shows. I will be at another show this Friday evening with a larger crowd in another city, so I will have a better idea after that.
If anyone else is considering selling at art shows, just remember it is not necessarily what you like, but what the public like and buys that counts.
